It has been pandemonium over the last few weeks as the combination of our 15 minutes of fame on ‘The Apprentice’, combined with the start of asparagus and strawberry season has curtailed my efforts at keeping this column up to date.

Demand in the shop smashed all records last week and we are trying to cope with the excellent volume and quality of asparagus due to the warm weather. The volume at times exceeded our ability to sell it whilst the volume of strawberries is pitifully slow. You just can’t win...

It must be the weather. Sales of ice cream are up over 100% on last year and interest from new customers is very encouraging. We have now located the ice cream cart permanently at the shop so that customers can enjoy eating this as well as drinks in the new garden area.

Our appearance on this programme on BBC1 gave us huge publicity and we are working hard to keep up with the interest it generated.
